# Deals

> Track revenue opportunities through configurable pipelines and outcomes.

Deals represent specific revenue opportunities. They connect a sales process to an amount, expected close date, owner, company, people, activities, quotes, invoices, and delivery work.

Every deal belongs to a Deal pipeline and stage.

## Deal data

The standard Deal properties include:

- Name, priority, owner, pipeline, stage, and probability
- Account, primary contact, decision maker, country, and lead source
- Amount, currency, payment status, payment terms, and contract term
- Deal type, forecast category, close date, next step, and competitor information
- Won timestamp, lost reason, subscription start date, and won-deal administration details
- Description and system dates

Administrators can add custom and computed Deal fields in [Properties](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/administration/properties). They can also require fields always, conditionally, or only when a deal enters a particular stage.

## Creating a deal

1. Open **Deals**.
2. Select **New Deal**.
3. Enter a deal name.
4. Choose the pipeline and stage.
5. Add an amount, currency, probability, and expected close date when known.
6. Associate the account and primary contact.
7. Assign an owner and save.

If a pipeline exists, Workstation can use its first stage as the initial stage. A stage's default probability is applied when the deal does not provide a different probability.

A Price Offer is not required before creating a deal. Create or associate a [Price Offer](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/sales/price-offers) when the opportunity needs a formal quote.

## List and Kanban views

The Deals page supports List and Kanban views.

- Built-in tabs include **All deals**, **My deals**, and **Closing this month**.
- Quick filters include owner, stage, account, close date, updated date, and created date.
- Kanban groups by Stage by default and can use other supported properties.
- Deal cards can display configurable properties, associations, activity context, and card actions.
- Deals that have gone stale in their stage show a **Stale** badge on the row and card.
- Selecting a row or card opens the deal in the shared record flyout. The URL keeps the open record, and **Open full page** goes to the full detail page.

Use [Table Views](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/administration/table-views) to save filters, columns, sorting, view mode, and Kanban grouping.

## Duplicates

Select **Duplicates** on the Deals page to open **Manage duplicates** on its **Deals** tab. It works the same way as [contact duplicates](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/sales/contacts#duplicates): scan, review each suggestion, pick the values to keep, and merge.

- Deals match when they have the same name (ignoring capital letters and spacing) on the same account or the same contact. Add **Detection rules** to match on other properties.
- Merging moves everything linked to the duplicate onto the deal you keep: contacts, activities, emails, quotes, invoices, subscriptions, conversations, comments, files, and tags.
- A deal's pipeline and stage always come from the same deal, and so do its amount and currency. Picking one picks the other.
- A merge can be undone through the API with `POST /api/v1/deals/merge/{mergeId}/undo`.

## Stale deals

[Stage Health](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/sales/pipelines#stage-health) watches open deals and flags the ones that sit too long in a stage, have no recent activity, or have no next task. A flagged deal gets the **Stale** badge, and the pipeline can notify the owner, create a follow-up task, or move the deal automatically.

The flag clears when the deal moves to another stage, or at the next hourly check once the problem is fixed, for example after you log an activity or schedule a task. Stale deals also feed [Radar](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/analytics/radar), and a deal's **Radar Findings** card lists the problems Radar found on it.

## Moving between stages

Change a deal's stage from its record page, list controls, or Kanban board.

Before a move completes, Workstation checks:

- Whether the pipeline uses Free or Strict transitions
- Whether the destination stage is allowed from the current stage
- Whether standard and custom stage-required fields are filled
- Whether property validation and conditional requirements pass

See [Pipelines and Stages](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/sales/pipelines) for configuration details.

## Won deals

Moving a deal into the pipeline's Won stage opens a **Mark as Won** dialog. Winning a deal:

- Sets the Won timestamp
- Sets the close date to the win date when entering Won
- Applies the stage's default probability when appropriate
- Requests any custom properties configured for the won dialog
- Records audit history and triggers the configured won and stage-change automation

Won-deal information can include administration contacts, payment details, subscription dates, and documents. Which custom fields appear in the win dialog depends on the workspace configuration.

## Lost deals

Moving a deal into the pipeline's Lost stage opens a **Mark as Lost** dialog that requires a Lost Reason. Workstation records the stage change and triggers the configured lost and stage-change automation.

Use specific, consistent reasons so reports can distinguish pricing, timing, competition, qualification, and other causes.

## Relationships and record page

A deal can have an account, a primary contact, a decision maker, and additional contact relationships. It can also connect to Price Offers, Tickets, Invoices, Subscriptions, Projects, Activities, Emails, Comments, Attachments, and other records.

The default record page has **About**, **Comments**, **Activities**, **Emails**, **Invoices**, and **Timeline** tabs, with the stage and key details in the header and related-record cards on the side.

- The **Activities** tab is a timeline of notes, calls, tasks, and meetings linked to the deal. See [Activities on a record](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/engagement/activities#activities-on-a-record).
- The **Invoices** tab lists linked invoices with their status, total, and amount due. **New Invoice** creates an invoice already linked to the deal. To split the amount into a down payment and installments, turn on **Payment plan** when creating the invoice. See [Invoices → Payment plans](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/commerce/invoices#payment-plans).

Administrators can change the layout in [Settings → Objects](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/administration/objects), so visible tabs and card placement may vary by workspace.

## Bulk actions

Select deals on the list page to assign an owner, edit standard or custom properties, delete records, or create follow-up tasks. Bulk actions run in the background, and the list refreshes when they finish. Bulk stage changes still need to satisfy the applicable property and stage rules.

## Visibility

Deal visibility follows ownership and the workspace's configured data-visibility scope:

- **All** shows all accessible deals.
- **Department** includes deals owned by visible department members.
- **Own** limits records to the current user's ownership scope.
- Unassigned deals remain visible under the shared visibility rules.

Permissions still control whether a user can create, edit, delete, or reassign deals.

## Reporting

Deal properties, stage probability, dates, owners, and outcomes are available to [Reports](https://workstation.repzo.com/docs/analytics/reports). Common measures include pipeline value, weighted value, win rate, average size, stage conversion, and time to close.

Keep stage and outcome data current; report accuracy depends on the record state.
